This is the result of years of experience now taught in Rob’s Money Awareness Courses;

  • The ‘dot com’ bubble bursts but Robs clients’ money is in safe investments which go up in value while others lose as much as 37% of the funds they hold in equities.

  • The Chancellor, Gordon Brown, sells 80% of our gold reserves. Rob advises his clients to go for gold, gilts and cash. The result? The glint of handsome returns!

  • Rob spots erratic market behaviour. With investments jumping up and down, Rob encourages his clients to become ‘profit-takers’ - storing their cash each time their investments rise before the credit crunch hits.

  • The Credit Crunch - Investments, pension funds and ISA’s fall by 30%. On Rob’s advice, his clients invest in the markets while they’re at a low. Real profits are earned as the markets rise again.

  • Working with input from economists and stockbrokers. Rob's guidance and information meant that when Covid 19 hit, those who learnt from the Money Awareness Course did not lose a penny of their investments. Their investments rose by up to 8% whilst the FTSE 100 index fell by 35%.

  • As far back as 2020, Rob alerted his Students to expect a sudden sharp rise in inflation. Interest rates and inflation had remained low for many years. Today inflation is rising towards 7.2%.   • The world is fast changing. Development of two wars, the fight against inflation, a UK election and much more. The world of money is upside down so assets do not replicate text book expectations.

    Rob provides his students with five strategies with the changing circumstances. These strategies have proved to be powerful in helping students profit from volatility and help to protect funds against markets falls.

  • Rob always encourages his students to look two steps ahead of the market. Some months ago, Rob’s commentaries highlighted his perceived risk that the two main markets which are vital to the stabilisation of diversified funds were the equity market and the bond market.

    For many years holders of equities / shares have sold these assets when markets were troubled to switch their holdings into the bond market. This is because the bond market to date has been perceived as a safer place. Rob’s concern is with the amount of global debt and lack of growth in the UK economy that the bond market it’s no longer safe and will not necessarily rise in value when equity prices fall.

    Some leading commentators have picked up this point and on the 4th March the Financial Times reported that ‘stocks and bonds’ tumbled. This lack of negative correlation has led Rob to comment that specific assets such as gold, defence, infrastructure and consumer staples, often supported by funding contracts maybe an alternative defensive holding.
